1- Heart-Shaped Pancakes

Heart-shaped pancakes are a lovely way to add some romance to your Valentine’s Day breakfast. Here is a simple recipe to make these lovely pancakes:

Things You Should Need For These Pancakes

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or any milk)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red or pink food coloring (optional)

Step-By-Step Guide On Making Heart-Shaped Pancakes

1- Prepare the Batter:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. If desired, add a few drops of red or pink food coloring to achieve a festive hue.

2- Prepare the Griddle:

  • Preheat a non-stick griddle or skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease with cooking spray or a small amount of butter.

3- Form the Pancakes:

  • Using a Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter:
  • Place a greased metal heart-shaped cookie cutter on the griddle.
  • Add about 1/4 cup of batter to the cutter and fill it evenly.
  • Cook till the bubbles appear on top and edges are set. Gently remove the cookie cutter and flip the pancake. Cook for about 1-2 more minutes till golden brown color.

(Optional) Without a Cookie Cutter:

  • Pour the batter in a squeeze bottle or a piping bag for better handling.
  • Draw a heart shape directly onto the griddle with the batter.
  • Fill in the outline with more batter.
  • Cook as usual, flipping once bubbles form and the edges are set.

4- Serve:

  • Stack the heart-shaped pancakes on a plate.
  • Top with fresh berries, whipped cream, or a drizzle of maple syrup.
  • For an extra touch, consider dusting with powdered sugar or adding heart-shaped strawberry slices.

Red Velvet Waffles

These are simply delicious and festive waffles to start your Valentine’s Day breakfast. Here’s a super easy recipe for these gorgeous waffles.

Things You Should Need For This Recipe:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
  • Red food coloring (gel preferred)

How To Make Red Velvet Waffles:

1- Preheat Waffle Iron:

First, prepare your waffle iron with the manufacturer’s guidelines and lightly grease it with a cooking spray or a melted butter in a small quantity.

2- Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.

3- Mix Wet Ingredients:

In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and vinegar. Mix until well combined.

4- Add Food Coloring:

Add red food coloring to the wet mixture and mix until you get the color you want. Use gel food coloring as it gives a great color with little effect on the batter.

5- Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:

Add the wet ingredients to the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir just until they are combined, as well as for making slightly lumpy batter; overmixing is avoided here, as waffles must be tender.

6- Cook the Waffles:

Place the right amount of batter on the preheated waffle iron as described in your waffle iron’s instructions. Then close the lid and let the waffles cook till crispy and golden brown for usually 4-5 minutes according to your appliance.

7- Prepare Cream Cheese Drizzle:

While the waffles are cooking, prepare the cream cheese drizzle. In a medium bowl, beat together 4 ounces of softened cream cheese and 2 tablespoons of softened butter until smooth. Gradually add 1 cup of powdered sugar, mixing until combined. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and beat until the mixture reaches a drizzle-able consistency.

8- Serve:

Once the waffles are done, transfer them to a plate. Drizzle with the cream cheese topping and garnish with fresh berries or a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
