Ingredients

  • 1 bone-in spiral sliced ham 8–10 pounds, fully cooked
  • 1 cup brown sugar light or dark
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard smooth
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Method

Preheat the oven
  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
Prepare the ham
  1. Place the spiral ham cut-side down in a large roasting pan. Cover tightly with foil.
Bake
  1. Bake for 10–12 minutes per pound, until the ham is heated through.
Make the glaze
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, butter, pineapple juice, garlic powder, ground cloves, and black pepper.
  2. Stir continuously until smooth and slightly thickened.
Glaze the ham
  1. Remove ham from oven and carefully uncover. Brush glaze generously over the entire ham, getting between slices.
Finish baking
  1. Return ham to the oven uncovered. Bake for 20–30 minutes, brushing with glaze every 10 minutes.
Caramelize (optional)
  1. Increase oven temperature to 375°F for the last 5 minutes if needed to deepen caramelization. Watch closely to avoid burning.
Rest and serve
  1. Remove from oven and let rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Most spiral hams are fully cooked—this recipe focuses on reheating and glazing.
  • Always bake low and slow to prevent drying out.
  • Baste often for the best glossy finish.
