Method
Make the Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
- Beat butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time.
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 35–40 minutes. Cool completely.
Create the Chocolate Egg Shell:
- Melt chocolate and pour into a silicone egg mold. Spread evenly.
- Chill until solid and carefully remove from the mold.
Assemble the Smash Cake:
- Frost the cake with buttercream.
- Fill the chocolate egg with Easter candies and place it on top of the cake.
- Seal with melted chocolate or frosting.
