Carrot-Shaped Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  

For the Cookies:

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract optional

For the Icing:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 –4 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Orange and green food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar; mix in egg and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients to form dough.
  • Chill dough for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Roll out dough and cut carrot shapes. Bake for 8–10 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Mix icing ingredients; color orange and green.
  • Decorate cookies with icing and let set.
  • Serve or store in an airtight container.
