Bruschetta with Fresh Tomatoes and Basil
This classic Italian appetizer, Bruschetta with Fresh Tomatoes and Basil, is the perfect combination of simple, fresh ingredients.
- 1 baguette or crusty Italian bread
- 3 large ripe tomatoes diced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
Toast the baguette slices at 375°F for 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy.
In a bowl, combine tomatoes, basil, garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices.
Serve immediately and optionally drizzle with more olive oil or balsamic vinegar.
