Ingredients

For the Brownie Base:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white chocolate chunks or white chocolate chips

For the White Chocolate Swirl:

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream

For the Topping:

  • Red white, and blue sprinkles (for decoration)
  • Mini firecracker candies or Pop Rocks optional, for the explosive effect

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Make the Brownie Base:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  • Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the wet ingredients and mix until combined. Stir in the white chocolate chunks.

Bake the Brownies:

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.

Make the White Chocolate Swirl:

  • In a heatproof bowl, melt the white chocolate chips and heavy cream together in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  • Drizzle the white chocolate mixture over the cooled brownies. Use a knife to swirl the white chocolate into the brownie batter.

Add the Toppings:

  • Sprinkle the red, white, and blue sprinkles over the top of the brownies. Add the mini firecracker candies or Pop Rocks for the explosive crackle, if desired.

Chill and Serve:

  • Let the brownies set at room temperature, or place them in the fridge for about 1 hour to firm up. Once set, cut into squares and serve!
