Method
Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Make the Brownie Base:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt into the wet ingredients and mix until combined. Stir in the white chocolate chunks.
Bake the Brownies:
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
Make the White Chocolate Swirl:
- In a heatproof bowl, melt the white chocolate chips and heavy cream together in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Drizzle the white chocolate mixture over the cooled brownies. Use a knife to swirl the white chocolate into the brownie batter.
Add the Toppings:
- Sprinkle the red, white, and blue sprinkles over the top of the brownies. Add the mini firecracker candies or Pop Rocks for the explosive crackle, if desired.
Chill and Serve:
- Let the brownies set at room temperature, or place them in the fridge for about 1 hour to firm up. Once set, cut into squares and serve!
