Savory Apple & Cheddar Toasts

A simple yet elegant appetizer featuring crisp apple slices, sharp cheddar cheese, and rustic toasted bread. Perfect for fall gatherings, wine nights, or holiday entertaining.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices rustic bread sourdough or multigrain
  • 1 large crisp apple Honeycrisp or Granny Smith, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sharp white cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon honey optional, for drizzling
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter one side of each bread slice.
  2. Place bread on a baking sheet, buttered side down. Toast 4–5 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Layer with thin apple slices and sprinkle generously with shredded cheddar.
  4. Bake another 6–8 minutes, until cheese melts and bubbles.
  5. Drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh herbs. Serve warm.
