Method
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light.
- Beat in egg, milk, vanilla, and red food coloring.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet.
- Scoop dough, roll into balls, and coat in powdered sugar.
- Place on baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes.
- Cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days.
- Add white chocolate chips for variation.
- For extra softness, slightly underbake and allow to set while cooling.
