Dutch Oven Lasagna

This Dutch Oven Lasagna is a cozy, comforting meal that’s perfect for cooking over an open flame or in your kitchen.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 14.5 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 9 lasagna noodles no-boil or cooked if using regular
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg optional
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Cook beef and onions in a Dutch oven until browned. Add garlic, tomatoes, tomato paste, sauce, and seasonings. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Mix ricotta, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, Parmesan, and egg.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer meat sauce, noodles, cheese mixture, and sauce in the Dutch oven, finishing with sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Cover and bake for 30-40 minutes (or campfire cook for the same time).
  • Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish, and serve.
