Dutch Oven Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake

Nothing beats the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon coffee cake while camping or at home! This Dutch Oven Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake is soft, moist, and infused with warm cinnamon sugar swirls that melt in your mouth. 

Ingredients
  

For the Cake:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

For the Streusel Topping:

  • ½ cup flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp cold butter

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare Dutch oven – Grease or line with parchment paper. Preheat (campfire or 350°F oven).

    Mix batter – Combine dry ingredients, then add wet ingredients and mix until smooth.

      Make cinnamon swirl – Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Swirl into half the batter, then repeat.

        Make streusel – Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter. Sprinkle on top.

          Bake

          • Campfire: 35-45 min with coals on top & bottom, rotating every 15 min.
          • Oven: 35-40 min at 350°F.

          Glaze & serve – Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over cake before serving.
