Tender blackened shrimp, perfectly cooked penne, and a rich homemade Alfredo sauce come together in one easy skillet for a comforting, restaurant-style meal. This creamy pasta is packed with bold flavor while remaining simple enough for any home cook to prepare on a busy night.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons blackened seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Extra Parmesan for serving

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. Pat the shrimp dry and coat evenly with the blackened seasoning.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the shrimp for 1–2 minutes per side until lightly blackened and just cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet.
  6. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Pour in the heavy cream and stir until warmed through.
  8. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  9. Season with black pepper, garlic powder, and salt if needed.
  10. Add the cooked penne to the skillet and toss until evenly coated. Stir in reserved pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
  11. Return the shrimp to the skillet and gently combine with the pasta.
  12. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan before serving immediately.

Notes

  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently with a splash of milk or cream to keep the sauce smooth.
  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or steamed broccoli for extra vegetables.
  • Substitute chicken or salmon if you prefer a different protein.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan provides the smoothest and creamiest Alfredo sauce.
