Apple Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients
  

For Dough:
  • ¾ cup warm milk 110°F
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 yolk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
Filling:
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 apples diced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp flour
Glaze:
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk and sugar.
  2. Mix in butter, eggs, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth.
  3. Let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Cook apple filling for 3–5 minutes; cool.
  5. Roll dough, spread filling, roll up, and cut.
  6. Let rise again 30–40 minutes.
  7. Bake 25–30 minutes at 350°F.
  8. Whisk glaze and spread over warm rolls.
